WMES 5TH GRADE SHARE GRATITUDE Megan Evander JAN 13, 2021 It is not a secret that 2020 has created many new challenges across the world, some large, some small. With all of these challenges comes opportunity and that is exactly what Mrs. Schwarz exemplifies when asking her students to reflect on what they are grateful for. Mrs. Megan Schwarz, 5th grade teacher at WMES used a digital tool called Mentimeter to visually display what her students are grateful for and reflect on how this year has shaped their views on life and education. Great work Mrs. Marshall’s Middle School Animal Science class! Grades 6,7,8 grade worked on their final project for our Herpetology Unit (the study of amphibians and reptiles). Greetings Winlock Community! Happy New Year and welcome 2021! We hope everyone had a safe and restful winter break. School at all building sites will resume on January 4th, both in Hybrid models grades 4th - 12th and full day for grades K - 3rd. Our building schedules (WMES & WMS/WHS)and our yearly calendars are linked so you can refer to them as needed. The district website will continue to provide the most up-to-date resources throughout the year. As a reminder, if your child(ren) is experiencing any flu like symptoms or is sick in any manner, please stay home. Students that experience allergy type symptoms, please keep them home from school as well. All students unable to come to school will continue their education virtually. Please make sure to communicate with your child(ren) teacher if there is a change in your schedule and need to attend class virtually. We appreciate your support through this process. This time of year we may also have some inclement weather. Our district plan is not to cancel school but to continue in a virtual or remote model (similar to the start of the school year). Hello Class of 2022. We are scheduled to take the ASVAB test at the high school on December 16th at 9:00 am. This is a paper pencil test and can only be administered in person. The ASVAB test is required for students considering the Military. For those not considering the military, it is also a test that will meet a graduation requirement if you score a 31 or higher. We typically have all juniors take the test. If you are not sure if you should take the test due to being remote or for any other reasons, please contact me and I can hopefully answer your questions. I also need to know who needs bus transportation, as that is a Wednesday and not a normal pick up day. Thank you very much, Mrs. Olson

Friendly reminder that tomorrow November 25th is an Early release day for gades K - 3 in person learning ending at noon. 4th & 5th grade will be a regular virtual learning day. Grades 6 - 12 will also be a regular virtual learning day as well. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving break!
